project 03: an urban community club

 

the solitude.

 

this project tested everything i learnt from the first year and heightened my ability to conceptualise more in depth during the design process. design parameters and regulations were the new key components in this project.

16th premio compasso volante competition 2014. 

 

a group project: x-morph

 

premio compasso volante is an annual international design competition for students organised by politecnico di milano where teachers and students are involved in the development of a complex design theme, chosen every year. it focuses on issues of sustainability, technology and world issues. the aim of the event is to provide opportunites for profitable and rich cultural exchanges with people that share a common conception of architecture.

 

in 2014, the theme was on the creation of an urban farm in the village of Phu Do, in Hanoi, Vietnam. The brief requested participants to consider the Expo 2015 in Milan, with the theme “Feed the Planet Energy for Life."

 

elective module: detailing for sustainable design

 

a group project: grabench

 

this module provided students with a working knowledge of sustainable design principles and detailing methods for external architectural and landscaping elements. Topics include site design cum construction methods and detailing to incorporate sustainable technology in building envelopes.

 

elective module: active, beautiful, clean water design

 

a group project: the oasis

 

this module Introduces to students the strategies of sustainable water management for Singapore’s reservoirs and waterways. Students learn and apply the strategies pertaining to the principles for Active, Beautiful, Clean (ABC) waters design and also the planning, design and performance as well as safety and maintenance considerations in relation to ABC water design features towards a sustainable environment through their design project.

this programme provides students with opportunities to gain professional working experience through attachments to local or overseas companies or organisations.
